Welcome

Seeking care is a vulnerable experience, whether you are acutely working through symptoms or a life-changing event, or if you feel an elusive sense of discontent.

I feel that much of our suffering derives from inner conflicts between different parts of ourselves, in particular the parts that are too tender to make themselves consciously known to us. I believe that treatment involves the freedom and flexibility to be able to look at the various facets of ourselves with the guidance and support of another.

We are all alone in our bodies and in the deepest thoughts and emotional experiences of our lives. It is my honor to help you digest your pains and accompany you as closely as possible toward greater self-understanding and life fulfillment.

About Me

A young woman with short black hair and a big smile, wearing a black sleeveless top and a necklace, standing against a brick wall.

As a bicultural, east coast native with extensive time spent on the west coast and abroad, I have a particular focus on how cultural identities, from the family unit to national allegiances, form our self-expression, sense of purpose, and values. I am also a musician and athlete, and therefore encourage the development of other forms of self-knowing and expression that may feel home to you.

I am a Columbia and Stanford University trained board-certified general adult psychiatrist licensed in New York and California. I provide psychotherapy and medication management services for adults eighteen and older.

Although my services are conducted in English, I have some fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and German.

Initial Evaluation

A garden scene with purple flowers and an orange flower against a beige brick wall, with a butterfly resting on one of the purple flowers.

It takes time for our concerns to unfold. I offer an initial consultation of two to three appointments to holistically understand what brings you to care at this time in your life. I will then provide a customized treatment plan for your needs, and discuss with you whether continuing with a treatment relationship together is the right fit for you.

Psychotherapy

An old, rusted hanging bell made of metal, suspended by a frayed rope, outdoors with a blurred background of trees and foliage.

I believe the human condition is inherently relational. Psychodynamic therapy is the creation of a human relationship that promotes greater understanding of one’s unconscious drives, inner conflicts, and relational patterns in service of richer relationships and durable change. It is a time to slow down and reflect while in the quiet, attentive presence of another. Psychotherapy expands your freedom to make conscious choices in how you navigate your time on earth.

Medication Management

Medications can be an important part of symptom relief and recovery. I am a conservative prescriber, striving to optimize benefit to risk, reduce polypharmacy, and promote deep, long-lasting change. My approach begins with a comprehensive understanding of the source of the symptoms, your relationship to medications and your treatment goals. Together, we will develop a clinically sound plan tailored to your needs and your body.

FAQ

  • I am currently accepting residents of New York State for virtual appointments.

  • I do not accept insurance and am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide a monthly statement or “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance carrier for potential reimbursement. I am currently unable to see clients with Medicare coverage.

  • Please reach out to me directly to discuss my current rates. I reserve a limited portion of my practice for clients on a sliding scale, based on financial circumstances.

  • Many insurance carriers offer reimbursement for my services, but reimbursement rates vary by carrier and plan. I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly and asking the following:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits to see an outpatient psychiatrist (MD)?

    • Is there an annual deductible I have to reach before I am eligible for reimbursement?

    • Once the deductible is met, what are the reimbursement rates for codes:

      • 90792 (initial visit)

      • 99214 + 90836 (50 minute therapy-focused follow up)

      • 99214 + 90833 (30 minute medication-focused follow up)

    • How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

    • How do I submit a “superbill” for reimbursement?
